New Rain Boots

Jared's new boots

My mom, aka "oba-chan", got Jared some new rain boots. It's actually been raining for a few days and he's been able to make use of them.

First Year Calendar

Even though each child is different, It's hard not to compare your kids to other kids or especially to each other. Kegan's been a completely different experience than Jared. It could be that one's a boy and the other a girl. Or it could be that we're a little more seasoned. Personality, temperament, apartment vs. house, who knows what it is... Anyway, Jill and I were going thru their "First Year" calendars and here's what we found that were similar and different:
Kegan rolled over for the first time at about 2 months and was rolling both ways easily before she was 4 months old, while Jared didn't start rolling until he was 5 months old. . .
Jared moved out of his carrier car seat at 4 1/2 months, mainly because he wanted to sit up straight in it instead of laying back comfortably (he would spend entire car rides holding his head up straight!), while Kegan is showing no signs of needing to give up her carrier car seat. . .
Kegan first slept through the night at about 2 months, while Jared didn't even attempt to skip a nighttime feeding until he was over 6 months. . .
Jared always threw quite a fit about having his diaper changed and taking a bath when he was an infant, but Kegan never complains when we change her diaper and only protests for the face-washing part of her bath. . .
Jared used to hate "tummy time" (being put down on his tummy to play), but whenever Kegan is put down on her back she immediately flips over onto her tummy and usually stays on her tummy until she's picked up again. . .
